Stephen “Stix” Josey is an award-winning filmmaker, director, producer, actor, and storyteller with over 30 years in entertainment.

As the creator, executive producer, director, and co-host of Birth of Basketball, his vision is to tell the game’s full story — from its birth in Springfield, Massachusetts, to its impact around the globe.

A former basketball player himself, Stephen is dedicated to preserving basketball’s rich history while honoring the people who helped shape the game — from hometown legends to players and icons around the globe.

Driven by a passion for authentic storytelling, Stephen brings together voices and stories from across the basketball world, creating a platform that celebrates not only where the game has gone, but where it all began.

Through Birth of Basketball, Stephen invites the basketball world to reconnect with its roots, to remember what the game has meant to communities and individuals worldwide, and ultimately to return to the Mecca — back to the birthplace of basketball, where it all began in 1891 with Dr. James Naismith.
